I think that we have a fault with our 500 W amplifier on a 500 MHz Varian console. It is producing an irregularly shaped square pulse at high power. (The RF input appears to be OK.)

    The Varian P/N is 0190230401.

The unit is originally made by Herley AMT and is:
    model 3446-V
    serial H012105
    date 0330

Would you offer a repair service for this unit?

    Best wishes,

    Peter

      Hello,
frow the data I have, this looks to be an 1kW, low frequency (10 – 130 MHz) ampl
Sorry, I don’t have documentation and test equipment (1KW load + power meter plug) for it.
Try with Mr. Lowell Beezley, Brodband Power Technologies, he is much better equipped.

    Hi Vanni,
we have Herley AMT 3900-1S4, Serial # HO24590 with high band for 600 MHz and low band channels for INOVA600 spectrometer that is not working. The front green lights of channels 1 &2 are blinking back and forth from each channel. It is most likely the power supply since both channels are not working. the instrument has 4 channels ,three low bands and one high band. There are input signals to the channels 1 & 2 of the amplifier but no output. If I swap the input cables from channel 2 ( low band ) of the bad AMP and use the channel 3 (low band) from the one that is working, I can see carbon signal , so the instrument is working with the channel 3 as observe channel other.
Would you be able to fix the power supply and check the outputs for proper performance and what would it be the cost for repair and service time.
    Thanks,
    looking forward for answer,
    Bashar

      Hello,
yes, the blinking LEDs on front panel is indication of power supplies troubles, most likely too high voltages (correct value is +28 V); this usually burns out the RF power amplifiers.

I suggest to contact Mr. Lowell Beezley of Broadband Power Technologies

much better equipped to fix this kind of troubles, and much closer to you (Willcox, Arizona).
      Ciao,

Hi, We have a 600 MHz NMR (Agilent). One of the Harley-AMT amplifier is faulty (not producing enough output). Model # 3900
    Serial # H025511

Frequency (10 to 245 MHz) at Channel B and 550 to 640 MHz at Channel A.

Do you undertake repair for this unit? If yes, How much would it cost us to get the repair work done?

    Thanks.

Hello. I know the AMT3900 and very probaly can fix it, please explain the fault.
Most common problem is the +28V power supply, cand you check it? (DVM needed)
If you’re in USA you better contact Broadband Power Technology, they are real AMT experts
